Tell me that you're alright...

during an interesting conversation with my grandma today, i was reminded of some really cool dreams i use to have as a child. one such dream, i suppose, was the same for many children at the time. that dream was to be a winner in the Toy's r Us super kids toy run. the fact that they would let you run amok in the store for however long and just go crazy grabbing all the toys you wanted made me excited with sick pleasure. i always planned the event in my mind. based off my local store, i would first run down the middle isle at a breakneck pace, grabbing and pulling off all the video games flaps (remember those???) from the shelves in order to collect them at the end of the run. while i got as many as i could, i would swing to the very back isle of the store and reach my short arms out and pile on as many lego's as i could. and that was about it. just video games and lego's. ha ha

the music for today is upbeat and fun, so no hard feeling's eh??? this summer i'm going to try and hit the vans warped tour once again, and one band i don't mind seeing for a second time is, Motion City Soundtrack.

this band has been around since 1997 and continue in the veins of bands like, The Get Up Kids, Superchunk and Weezer when they use to be good. seriously, this band is making great music that weezer should have made, but eh, whatever. this is synth/pop/rock/emo music at it's finest. front man justin pierre isn't a screamer, but instead a quality singer. his lyrics are very good, and showcase genuine intelligence and quality care towards the art. this music is serious, but also fun and easy to get into.

i have here the entire discography once again, and for the last entry you better get it quick since it's a new release and probably gonna get taken away by the scouts out there looking for people like me. anyway, first is the hard as heck to find ep, Kids For America, followed by the other hard to find ep, Back To The Beat. after that we get into the fantastic lp's staring with the cult favorite, I Am The Movie. this debut album is wonderful and the best place to start with the band. following in second lp place we have the super awesome, Commit This To Memory. this is personally my favorite album, but sometimes the debut tops it. i don't know, my mind is always changing when it comes to which is my favorite, but since i'm currently jammin' this album, it's my fave!!! for third place we come to the polarizing album, Even If It Kills Me. this album separated old school fans, but also made new ones. you'd have to figure that one out for yourself, but i will say that it's a great album and one that shouldn't be skipped. heck, there are even some moments that reminded me of Ben Folds, so take that with a grain of salt. aaaaaaannnnnnddddd in last place we come to the new album that just dropped called, My Dinosaur Life. like i mentioned in the first sentence, get this one quick. now, i haven't actually heard any music off this new one except for one song, but it was a good one. and as far as people have said, some state it as their best effort yet, so take that one with another grain of salt. or maybe sea salt... enjoy!!!

I’ve got a lotta things to do tonight
I’m so sick of making lists
Of things I’ll never finish
I’ve lived here for the last 12 years
Since early 1995 all my shit has been in boxes
But if I had a little more time to kill
I’d settle every little stupid thing
Yeah you’d think that I would

But I’m too tired to go to sleep tonight
And I’m too weak to follow dreams tonight
For the first time in a long time I can say
That I want to try to get better and
Overcome each moment
In my own way

I wonder if I’ll ever lose my mind
I tried hard for awhile
But then I kinda gave up
Winter is a killer when the sun goes down
"I’m really not as stubborn as I seem,"
Said the knuckle to the concrete

But I’m too tired to go to sleep tonight
And I’m too weak to follow dreams tonight
For the first time in a long time I can say
That I want to try to get better and
Overcome each moment
In my own way

I’m not saying that I’m giving up
I’m just trying not to think as much as I used to
Cause "never" is a lonely little messed up word
Maybe I’ll get it right some day
For the first time in a long time I can say
That I want to try
I feel helpless for the most part
But I’m learning to open my eyes
And the sad truth of the matter is
I’ll never get over it
But I’m gonna try
To get better and overcome each moment
In my own way

I so want to get back on track
And I’ll do whatever it takes
Even if it kills me
