Ever fallen in love?...

hello, my name is schuyler deal and today i have nothing to write about. well, i take that back. i can always find something to write about and my blog tends to be a reflection of my then, current mood, but as for right now, i'm feeling quite good, so no depressing dreck today!!! really, there is nothing bothering me except for deciding on what to watch later. i'm currently watching the movie, 24 Hour Party People, and it's gotten me excited about the band i want to post on which are in the film. The Buzzcocks.



these guys formed in bolton, which is a small town in manchester england. they were manchesters first punk band, and they booked the first Sex Pistols gig there in that city. at that gig, 42 people showed up, including but not limited to, members of the bands, Joy Division, The Buzzcocks, Simply Red, as well as factory records owner tony wilson, and the amazing producer, martin hannett.

these guys were at the forefront of the early punk movement. they made great pop songs, and toured all over europe and france. early tours had them taking joy divison with them, and in 1980, they were to head overseas to america and bring joy division along, but the death of ian curtis closed that down. but still these dude soldered on, creating masterpieces of punk rock music. at their beginning, they made many singles that got them their recognition, and all of those are collected here in the album, Singles Going Steady. this album is in the Rolling Stone Top 500 Greatest Albums of all time collection, and worth all the praise. these dudes are still around and churning out great music, so give them a listen and take a step back in time for a bit. (a good step)
