Don't you want me...

well this is a dilemma. it seems that the Deftones are coming to oklahoma city may 29th, but also that same day, up in tulsa, is a show with the band, Converge. this stinks, but i know what i have to do. i have seen the deftones five times already, but have never seen converge live. i already made plans for this and i have a friend who lives in jenks that wants to hang out, so the decision is, uh, made. still, they are playing at the diamond ballroom and it would be awesome to see them in such a small place. ugh...

here's a nostalgic trip back to the 80's. i think you all might know this next band, even if the name doesn't strike any familiarity. so with that, let's dance to The Human League.

man, just look at that hair!!! anyway, the human league are a synth pop act from sheffield, england who have been together since 1977. yes, they are still together!!! the only members now are lead singer philip oakey and the two ladies, joanne catherall and susan ann sulley. the group fills in the rest with session and touring musicians. the band also showcases other styles of music like nu-wave/post-punk/indie/and rock. over the course of their career they have released over nine studio albums and 26 singles.

but there is only one album i want to post on today. that album is called, Dare!. released in 1981, this is the album that broke them into the mainstream on the bases of it's very catchy singles. still, there is one single that caught everybody's attention and that single was, "don't you want me" this single became a multimillion seller and made dare! go triple platinum. on a sad and yet interesting note, music journalist and critic Lester Bangs, supposedly died from a drug overdose while listening to this album, which i think he claimed as his favorite album. so anyway, try this out and see if you can't enjoy the awesome tunes!!!
