The comforts of lithium...

not really a comfort, but a device to help mostly. i can't be sure when or if it's taking place, but i was told it's a subtle thing anyway. yeah, so today was another appointment with the doctor. it went well i guess. we discussed these past few weeks and i mentioned my pains that happened and how i felt during them. she listened well and told me some good advice. this is all a slow process, but it's something that i'll keep at for as long as needed...

while driving back home i jammed some music to blend with the elements. something nice and of low angst. it was the band, Pale Saints.

the pale saints existed from 1987 to 1996. they were from leeds, england and played very nice dream-pop/shoegaze music with later elements of brit-pop sprinkled throughout. i don't really have much to say on them except that they are one those bands that i always mention who are often forgotten nowadays. if you are like me, then you must like thick layers of guitars and vocals that are sung softly. this type of music was found by chance one night back when i was stoned and listening to the Deftones. yes, the deftones. you see, after some investigation, i discovered a term used to describe some of their sound. that term was dream-pop. also, after getting into lead singer chino moreno's other project, Team Sleep, i discovered the shoegaze genre. all this happened in one day. looking back, i wouldn't change it at all. during that time, i was heavy into smoking pot and there was this one late late night, driving back from a party, where i REALLY discovered the deftones and this style of music that had many layers and dynamics. the pale saints fall in there somewhere during the digging through of these genre's.

today you will find one album by the pale saints and that is their debut called, The Comforts of Madness. this is a great piece of work and an album i just like to throw on from time to time. today was a good opportunity to remember these guys and gals in the pale saints and hopefully you might too. give them a listen and remember that this blog's main purpose is keep music alive. enjoy!!!
