it's the weekend once again. i might go out tonight and hang with a friend, or i might just stay home. i don't know for sure. i'm sort of depressed a little bit which is something that happens all the time and also something i hate very much. ugh...
i guess the music today is a brief reflection of my mood. even though the music is a little down, it's rather quite beautiful and full of soulfulness. here is Massive Attack.
i like trip-hop music. artists like Portishead, Tricky, and Thievery Corporation tend to make me sit back and relax. i listened to a lot of this type of music during college and massive attack were the ones who stood out the most. now i know that this stuff is a bit dated and i remember how mind blowing it all was during the 90's, but still these guys make quality slow jamming music that fits into any mood. (my current moods...) to describe trip-hop would be a little weird. i guess i would say it's the slower beats of hip-hop music mixed with sometimes rock and soul. the guest singers are the usual highlights of the productions and when used, samples from other songs make the ones here stand out even more.
this trio really aren't that grounded into the usual order of members since massive attack is most of the time an artist collective. still, these people are amazing and they keep making music. apparently there will be a new album dropping in 2010, so be on the lookout for that.
today i have my two favorite albums by this group. first is their debut, Blue Lines and second is Mezzanine. yeah, i know i'm skipping several more of their albums, but this blog is really all about my own personal tastes. (i still wonder who reads this stuff...) enjoy!!!
