Spiders are playing at my house...

i hate spiders. i am reminded of this after just having a text conversation with a friend of mine. seriously, i hate spiders. i sometimes hyperventilate when close to them, or being surprised by their sudden movements and hiding spots. i don't know why, but my fear, or better yet, arachnophobia, goes to the start of my life possibly. i don't remember a time when i wasn't scared of them. i've even had terrible terrible dreams of them crawling all over me in my sleep. (one time they even laid eggs in my stomach, then hatched and busted out of my empty cavity...) oh, and yes, i have been bitten by a spider before. it actually happened in my bed one late night while i was crashed out. i felt it sink it's fangs into my back and i immediately snatched for it and squished it in my hand. luckily i didn't get sick from it and it left no sores on me. the same can't be said for my little brother though. the poor kid was ate up recently by spiders and now has a few scares to prove it. despite that, he's suffered through it and is more tougher about them than i am!!! i need to buy him a blizzard for that...

it's monday and this day mostly sucks for everyone, so i want to get you all up and dancing. let's listen to LCD Soundsystem.

lcd soundsystem is the musical project of producer james murphy, who is from new york city. it's all out disco/funk/nu-wave/post-punk/rock/dance music that's so catchy and awesome you can't help but fall in love with it immediately!!! so, the music of lcd soundsystem started in 2002 and quickly gained a following all over new york city. (the hipsters loved it...) singles such as, "losing my edge" "give it up" and "daft punk is playing at my house" garnered james murhpy and his rag tag crew of live performers a bunch of press and notoriety across the globe.

over the years, lcd soundsystem has been one of the "go to" bands for danceable indie pop music. the group has played at just about every major music festival around the world, including Coachella 2007 which was the first, and so far, only time i've seen them. what i remember is how awesome they sound live and what a great front man james was. he lead the crowd into some extreme dance frenzies that left everyone exhausted, but very happy in the end. i want to see lcd soundsystem at least one more time...

so, with that here's the music. we first start with the wonderful self titled debut that contains over two albums worth of music. it also includes those fantastic first singles james put out before the album. in second is my personal favorite, Sound of Silver. this album contains the wonderful song, "all my friends" which, i think, is one of the best songs to come out in the past ten years or so. and in last place is the latest album, This is Happening. i actually haven't listened to this one yet, but the reviews from all over are praising it very highly. it's also been declared that this might be the final lcd soundsystem album. let's see how that goes...
