House of the rising schuyler...

i feel a bit better today. better enough to make it to the computer to type this post, not that i want to skip it and let all my loyal fans down... (all 0 of you)

because of yesterdays 60's post, i'm still in a groovy mood, so here's another classic band. The Animals.

one of the best musical acts of the early british invasion, the animals were destined for greatness and achieved some of that, but sadly, are not as recognized as some other artists. the group formed in 1962 in newcastle, england and disbanded in 1969, right at the height of the hippie era. they reformed several times in the latter years, but for their classic design, it's all about their 60's incarnation. the band scored many hits like the songs, "house of the rising sun" "it's my life" "sky pilot" and "we gotta get out of this place". the music is soulful and bluesy as best as the brits could make from americana. (and we know how well they did that!!!) pay close attention to lead singer eric burdon and his deep voice. his vocals were meaningful and powerful which was a stark contrast to all the other bands at the time. a good way to stand out!!!

today you will find their album, The Best of The Animals. this was their first greatest hits release in the us and first to hit gold. it contains the essentials and is a great way to be introduced to these lads. dig it...
