Oooooooops...

so sorry to have not made a post in a while again. i guess it's because of Call of Duty: Black Ops. yeah, i've been going crazy with that game, so there!!! nyah nyah!!!

here's something a bit quick and it comes at us very fast courtesy of, Slayer!!!

yeah yeah yeah, this isn't really that nice of music to post here, but heck, i just love their thrashyness. you all should listen to SSSSSLLLLLLAAAAAYYYYYYEEEEEERRRRRR and thrash along. this is, in my opinion, the best of the best when it comes to thrash metal. they are way better than, Megadeth and Metallica combined. yeah, i said it...

ok, so there is one thing to listen to and that is their best album, Reign in Blood. no question...

Spooky, Booky, Pooky...

oooooooooo!!! last night i went and watched Paranormal Activity 2 and had a blast. it's not the most perfect movie, but you can't beat a fun movie watching experience. i went with several members of my family and we all got spooked bad. the film has a lot of those jump moments that try and catch you off guard, and for the most part, they work to great effect. i'll never forget how funny it was to hear the audience scream out loud while something happened on the screen. something like a fart under the blankets or a cell phone vibrating...

since it was soooooooooooo scary, i think i'll let you all watch some of Simon's Cat, because he's soooooooooo CUTE!!!

and in other news, today is another OU football game, so i guess i'll be watching that later on with the family. i think that's going to be fun!!! and so, let's get a bit scary again with some DEATHCORE!!! DEATHCORE!!! DDDDDDEEEEAAAAATTTTTHHHHHCCCCCCOOOOORRRRRREEEEEE!!!... seriously, that is the lamest thing ever, but the music is so BROOOOOTAL that it requires all caps people!!! okay, and so with the band then??? yeah, let's talk about the band, who happen be be called, The Red Chord.

the red chord is a band from revere, massachusetts that formed in 1999. they are considered one of the pioneers in the deathcore genre. of course, i honestly thought they were just a metalcore band with heavier growls, but then i noticed the grindcore dynamics, and now it seems to have taken shape and become it's own separate genre called, deathcore. shoot man, it's all just metal to me, but there are those purists out there that beg to differ, so i'm trying my best to list all references in honor of those tight pants wearing scenesters. funny how much i used to like this band back in the early 2000's. i got the chance to see them several times, and each show was bigger and heavier than the last. in my opinion, nothing really tops their debut album simply because it was radically different than most of the metalcore material that came out during that time. but as the years have passed and crab core has raped its way into the young minds of our nations youth, the metal genre's have taken more expansive routes, and thus, have begone to slide around and mix things up a lot more. it's a mish mash of all styles and you really have to dig through the garbage to find something good. the red chord are one of the best and are still around, tearing up the clubs and making the kids mosh. i just wish more people would mention them instead of all the others... and by others, i mean, Suicide Silence, Winds of Plague, Whitechapel, Emmure, Salt the Wound and Bring Me the Horizon. (not that those bands are terrible and such...)

time to rest, but before i go here's the music. first is their debut album called, Fused Together in Revolving Doors. after this is the excellent album, Clients and then, Prey For Eyes. and last is Fed Through the Teeth Machine. check these out and get scary and BROOTAL!!! or just get cutsey!!! aww...

Walking Corpse...

well, the day has gone by, but i only just woke up a few hours ago. (i'm never an early person...) anyway, exciting things are happening for me!!! first off, i'm going to tulsa tomorrow to see, Converge, for the first time ever!!! i'm so crazy excited about this!!! i've been waiting FOREVER to see these guys and it looks like i'm going to get my wish!!! oh, and second is another important announcement for myself and others. i can see the Deftones!!! i totally read the dates wrong on that, so instead of them being here tomorrow, they will be here next saturday. and it's at the diamond ballroom witch it a small venue too!!! the best shows are the small ones anyway!!! oh HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!! XD

i'm still feeling a bit like a metal head, and since i've fallin' off the wagon and got on another Call of Duty fix, i like to play some heavy music to kill off all those spawn noobs. lately it's been the music of, Brutal Truth.

this death metal/grindcore band is a classic group that started back in 1990 and ended in 1999. they reunited however, in 2006 and have released new music since then. oh, i forgot to mention their whereabouts and stuff... they are from new york city, and were formed by ex-Anthrax, Nuclear Assaults, Storm Troopers of Death, bassist dan lilker. in 2001, the guinness book of world records awarded brutal truth the record for "shortest music video" for their video "collateral damage", which is 2.18 seconds long and consists of 48 still images in rapid succession followed by a clip of an explosion. lol

okay okay, well now it's time for me to leave, but not before the music listings!!! so first we have their wonderful debut album nicely titled, Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses. this is the best place to start and is my personal favorite album by them. next we have the album Need to Control followed by Kill Trend Suicide. after that is the album, Sounds of the Animal Kingdom, which is a radical departure from their usual deathgrind style, and instead a more crust punk style. after that it would take almost ten more years before they made another album, which they did, and it's called, Evolution Through Revolution. right, so check this stuff out if interested and don't be scared!!! heh heh, enjoy ya noobs...

Accepting your role.
Robbed of life and stripped of soul.
Fall into the same routine.
Of drab existence, what does it mean>
Are you satisfied with the way that you exist?
Every single day just like the one before.
Don't you feel the need to express the way you feel?
Wake your sleeping brain, there's so much more.

You Suffer...

well okay. so yesterday's interview didn't go my way. they told me, that if interested, they'd call me after 1pm. this did not happen, so i guess i wasn't what they wanted. still, i'm happy i got the interview and i hope i can find something in the future. here's to that i guess...

let's grind with the band, Napalm Death.

napalm death are considered one of the originators of the grindcore genre along with their peers, Repulsion and Siege and are influenced by crust-punk bands like Crass and Amebix . grindcore is one of the many metal sub divisions and this band is considered one of the best. they started in 1981 and are still together, but with an almost entirely different lineup. the band of today though, are solid and still play with the same sheer force and brutality that they did so long ago. besides the grindcore, there is also death metal, indie, punk, hardcore and even post-punk. yes, post-punk!!! (this was just one of their early styles.)

the band plays with a punk attitude and often did shows with local punk bands. oh, and the group hails from birmingham, england. and just for your own trivia, they are listed in the guinness book of world records for having the shortest song ever called, "you suffer", which clocks in at 1.316 seconds long. watch the video below to see them do their trademark song at the very end.

there is only one album i want to post and that is the album, Scum. this is their debut and one of the most influential death metal/grindcore albums of all time. it contains several fan favorites such as, "scum" "you suffer" and "the kill". this is the best place to start with the band and something to get acquainted with in the world of punk/metal 101. try this out and get BBBRRRRRUUUUUUTTTTAAAAAALLLLLL!!!

Knee High...

here's 3-for-3. i'm on a roll and trying to catch up with the already 19 days of january 2010. oh, and my current mood as of right now is ok. i'm still gonna play some volleyball tonight, and i'm also trying to watch the movie, 500 Days of Summer, but i keep getting distracted by other things.

this band was cool and had a great sense of dark humor. not to be taken seriously, here is S.O.D. or better known as Stormtroopers Of Death.

starting as a side project in 1985-2007, this band was very short lived, but reunited sporadically throughout the years for festivals and such. the idea was inspired by scott ian's, of Anthrax fame, drawing of the character he dubbed, "sargent d". recruiting anthrax drummer charlie benante, Brutal Truth bassist dan lilker, and Psychosis bassist billy milano on vocals, the band recorded a shoddy demo of 59 songs then went forth and created one of the best hardcore punk/thrash metal albums of all time. the album would be called, Speak English or Die and it set the band off on a world tour and high fame. they recorded a few more albums, one of them being a live at budokon album, but nobody really cares about those. it's all just about SEOD, and with that you have the great opportunity to listen to that wonderful jam right here!!! oh, and as a special twist, it's the re-release version with better audio and live tracks tagged at the end!!!

Arise...

today i just found out i missed my deadline for the fall 2010 writing program at brown university. i can't believe i did that. now, if i wanted to go there, i have to wait until the fall 2011 program. i don't know if i'm going to be alive by that time!!! that's way to far in the future for me to grasp. i need to make a decision today on what exactly i'm going to do. i've been looking around, and it seems that OSU, here in still water oklahoma, has an MFA program in creative writing. i think i might try that out. i have until january 15th, so i better get crackin' right now!!!

since my time is short, i'm gonna post a band here with the quickness. these guys were from brazil and have been around since the 80's. they were an awesome brutal force in the metal scene back then, as well as in the 90's before loosing the lead singer and getting someone else to cover for him. they were/are called Sepultura.

thrash and death metal were the original traits of this band before the 90's came along and their sound changed. they incorporated industrial and hardcore punk into the mix and eventually gave birth to what we now know as nu-metal. lead singer max cavalera left the band in 1996 and started the awesome Soulfly. the details of his departure remain unknown, but there is much speculation as to why it happened which i don't really care to mention here.

this is heavy stuff. HEAVY!!! oh, and one more thing that made this band so awesome was the fact that they mixed in their own tribal music with the modern metal style they did. yes, you can hear all sorts of unique sounds in their music along with the controlled mayhem going about. yeah, so here i have the last three albums with max before the left the band. these are more of the latter era tunes from sepultura and they feature the nu-metal and hardcore tones than the death metal and thrash of the old era. first is Arise, then we have Chaos A.D. and in last place is Roots. the third album is my favorite and what i believe to be the bands best work. check these out and bang your head!!!

I'll just keep waiting...

it's monday and really REALLY cold here in oklahoma. i went out this evening and got to do some christmas shopping for the first time this holiday season. it feels good to pick out gifts for special people and i feels even better when they get them and see what you chose. i took my time and picked out some awesome things for a few of my close friends who are very important to me. i just hope they get their packages before christmas eve or day!!!

this time i want to dive a little deeper into my music post and put up a bands entire discography. why is that??? well this band deserves so much praise for their technical craftsmanship and delivery of brute force when playing such awe inspiring music. the band is Between the Buried and Me. oh, and if you were wondering, they take their name from lyrics to a Counting Crows song.

hailing from raleigh north carolina, btbam (the short version of their name) have been creating heavy music since 2000. though the lineup now is mostly different from when the band first started, that hasn't stopped their original take on what they wanted to do in the first place. in reality, the band has become something much much more than when they started out. the music is metal in all its heaviness, but also progressive and mathy to a point that you wouldn't even believe that people can make music like this. to quote a joke i heard recently, "if i walked into a room and heard them playing, but didn't see it, i wouldn't even think it was real!!!" when i listen to btbam, i think of a few other bands like King Crimson, Cannibal Corpse, Dream Theatre, Tool, and Slayer just to name a few. not saying that they sound just like those bands, but you can hear and feel the influence.

this is one of my top ten bands to see before i die. i have met all my original choices in my first top ten, so now i gotta make a new list of artists. btbam is definitely one of them. right here i have their entire discography minus a live album and a cover album. first thing to check out is their 3 song demo, then the debut self titled lp. next is the totally awesome The Silent Circus which was the first thing i ever heard from them. now the next lp made them get lots of attention in all the music rags the world over. this album is called Alaska and it shreds. this helped them land on ozzfest 2006 and subsequent bigger tours followed. in line after alaska is Colors. this is their masterpiece. an album complete with works of such technical art that re-defined the metal genre. this is the best thing they have done and will be talked about for ages to come. and last but not least we have their latest work, The Great Misdirect. this is a great new album that follows in the shadow of the superior colors. it's a great, fresh new collection of songs that take the band even further. get these now and go see this band. i highly recommend it!!!

Spooky Vision...

today is halloween. that eventful holiday were candy flows like water, cats get killed gruesomely, and costumes try to be unique but often fail because it's all been done before. unless of course a new movie character came out and took the world by storm. (bruno maybe???)

yes, i am taking part in this holiday tradition by staying home and watching horror flicks. good horror flicks!!! oh, and yes, i will be giving out candy to the children who brave the front door to my house of horrors!!! (no food, bad toilets, rats in the backyard!!!)

so stop on by and chill out to some bloody classics and eat some possible pizza or tacos... oh, and be sure to dress up and ask nicely for candy because if you don't i will have to hoard all the candy like a squirrel and my tree nest can only hold so much!!!

heh heh, oh yeah about last night, well i went to the fall festival at my church and had a blast!!! i originally was going to be a gangster ala kanye west/50 cent, but instead chose to go even cheaper and try to attempt a zombie look. zombie movies are my favorite types of horror films, so i thought i could make it work. instead i got this:

my artsy angle to look dark and scary...

so yeah, i more or less came out looking like a black metal singer. just without the long hair. ha ha, i even thought i could have passed for some sort of samurai warrior whenever i applied the black grease paint to my eyes. oh how i tried to look old and decaying. my inspiration came from the original Dawn of the Dead (1978), because all the zombies had a blueish tone about them and nothing else really. i mixed some white paint with the black to make this grey color, but in these cell phone pics i look more blue... lol

i don't really know why i was wearing an army shirt...

okay, so after i went all out and made myself look like two bucks, i left my grandma's house and started off down the road to get to the church. well after reaching the stop light at the end of the street i glanced at my mirror and smiled all huge and cheesy and totally freeked myself out!!! i then did a u-turn and went back to my grandma's and wiped off all the paint and only left the black around the eyes. yeah, i guess you could say i chickened out, but i honestly didn't want to scare all the little children who came. and let me tell ya, there were a ton of kids there!!! my best friend mike came and brought his family with him. we all had a blast eating and chatting with everyone. funny, but most of the people there didn't recognize me. i guess i looked like a homeless person off the street... ha ha

overall it was a great night. everybody at the church seemed to be having a great time and the children loved it. after we left i was invited to come back to mike's to hang out and chill. i stayed over until almost 2:00 am. i drove back home late that night hoping i wouldn't get stopped by the police. i just know that i wouldn't look right once they saw me with all the goofy paint and such. so yeah, i eventually made it home and i wiped off all the corpse (pow wow) paint and then ended my night with some Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. massive kill streaks and massive pawnage!!!

sooooooooooooooo, on to the music!!! since it's halloween i think i will post some scary gory music this time!!! BBBBWWWWAAAAAHA HA HA HA HA... okay, so here is the famous death metal band Cannibal Corpse.

forming in 1988 in buffalo new york, this band has become the highest selling death metal band of all time. the first time i saw them was in the movie Ace Ventura. jim carrey got up on stage and took over the vocals, throwing himself around and going crazy like a rabbit being killed by a bear tap. with death metal bands came the infamous "cookie monster" vocals. its the sound of blood and guts being chewed upon or even better, thrown up from one's own mouth!!!

i finally got to see them live this past summer here in oklahoma at the last stop of the rockstar mayhem tour. they headlined the side stage and freekin' tore the place up. i stood there cracking up at how brutal they were. now i know where brendan small got his inspiration for his show Metalocalypse. george "corpse grinder" fisher is the absolute definition of a death metal singer. yes, he is way better than the original singer chris barnes ever was and yes he can really twirl his head like a windmill at seriously fast speeds.

so with that i give you my two personal favorite albums by the band. one note to make, these are the albums made with the original singer chris barnes. if you dig that guy you might want to check out his other band called Six Feet Under. but if you are like me, just skip that and only listen to these. first you have the crazy Tomb of the Mutilated and second is the awesomely gastric bypassing brutal as bamboo shoots under your finger nails The Bleeding. so don't take too much offense by the gory album artwork and instead check out some classic death metal and laugh at the absurdness of it all!!!
