Catchup, Catsup, Ketchup...

it's going on a saturday now and so i needed something to do. i have a few items to return to the store, but that can wait. while laying around yesterday, i kept thinking on what to post about. i ended up deciding to sleep on it and wait till the morning. well, it's the afternoon now and i'm finally getting around to this thang here by golly.

i need a quick shave it seems...

as i write this, i'm currently jamming the latest album by Broken Social Scene called, Forgiveness Rock Record. so far, so good!!! i just love that band anyway, so even on a bad day they still make wonderful tunes.

and this is what my focus is on today. i'm playing, uh ahem, CATCHUP. you see, while i have made lots of posts, some of them aren't that up-to-date. i blogged on certain artists before they released their newest albums. now this was all done in the best interests of the artists themselves because they need to get their work out there asap before it all drowns in the internet sea. it really only takes one person to spread music to many many others. i guess i'm just another one of those types of people, but i do like to state that i'm doing it for the music and the artists benefit. (take that whatever way you want. it's a horrible statement...)

my sarcasm knows no bounds...

okay, so what we have here is a plethora of bountiful music sponsored by my waking habit. my habit is to eventually awake and then do something, so the something for today is this post yo!!! (ugh, sooooooo dumb...) anyway, we first get things started with Bedouin Soundclash and their latest called, Light the Horizon. after that is a 7inch single from Bomb the Music Industry! called, Everybody That You Love. next is the already mentioned broken social scene album and following that is the truly great, Diamond Eyes by the Deftones. in hot pursuit is the always stunning music of Envy and their latest album, Recitation is no small fry. they hit it out of the park once again. Interpol came back with a self titled effort and Jónsi Birgisson unleashed his second solo album. those twinkly folks in the band, Look Mexico awed me with their new full length album, To Bed To Battle which has album artwork that reminds me of hayo myazaki and studio ghibli and Superchunk proved once again that they can still be awesome no matter how old they are with the fantastic album, Majesty Shredding. and in last place are The Gaslight Anthem with American Slang, The Hold Steady with Heaven is Whenever and The National with High Violet. ok, so there you go and thanks again for reading if you did!!! (sorry for the weird links...) dig it...

Cause = Time...

october is proving to be an exciting month for me. i can already tell it's gonna way better than last years horrible month. for starters my number one movie of the fall drops on the 16th. Where The Wild Things Are!!! i can't wait to see that film. it looks really amazing.

also this month there is going to be a weekend of great music for me to check out. first is on friday the 23rd. at my favorite local venue, The Conservatory, several bands that i happen to like will be playing. the bands are And You Will Know Us By the Trail Of Dead, Future of the Left, and The Secret Machines. following friday is saturday and a drive up to tulsa to see one of my heroes Bob Dylan!!! and on sunday at the diamond ballroom will be Built to Spill, and Dinosaur Jr. looks like i'm booked for a few days coming up and i can't be more happier!!!

well now for the music. i discovered this band by total accident and have been pleased about that ever since. it was an honest mistake really. i was looking for the artist who was playing during the opening scene from the movie Lost in Translation where Bill Murray is sleeping in the taxi while driving through tokyo. as it turns out it was a band called Death in Vegas, but i instead thought that it might some band called Broken Social Scene.

i looked them up in amazon and listened to their music samples. i thought that i found the right band so i went into town (santa fe at the time...) and purchased their second album titled You Forgot it in People. i was suprised to find out that this wasn't the right band, but the music made up for it because of it's sheer brilliance. now i know every pitchfork writer and indie kid for the last ten years have been praising this band, so i'm late in the game to talk about them. i just have always wanted to post about them in case there were some people who haven't heard this amazing musical collective.

here for you are their three releases minus the b-sides album and a few ep's. first is the amazing instrumental album called Feel Good Lost then the already mentioned and absolutely fantastic album You Forgot it in People and last but not least their self titled album. i hope you all find great emotions with this like i did.

All these people drinking lover's spit

They sit around and clean their face with it
And they listen to teeth to learn how to quit
tied to a night they never met

You know it's time
that we grow old and do some shit
I like it all that way

All these people drinking lover's spit
Swallowing words while giving head
They listen to teeth to learn how to quit
tied to a night they never met

You know it's time
that we grow old and do some shit
I like it all that way
