These times, they are a' changin'...

you know it’s time to change a few things in your life once they all start falling apart. i’ve been getting some clear signs lately for many things to be changed. first is my current living situation. i’m still at home, staying at my dad’s along with my step mother and step brother. that old house is falling apart and it seems to get tighter and tighter each day. i need to change it up and move out ASAP!!! next thing to happen is getting a new car. my current one is almost caput, but i still love it. it’s been the best car i’ve ever owned in my entire life. me and my car have been through the ringer (new mexico…) and are still living to tell about it. many miles have been traveled and many hardships have been dealt with, but still we are here. and one of the more important things for me personally, is getting a new computer. i can’t really do my writing as well without one. also, i’m getting behind on my music endeavors, heh heh. ah, i forgot another thing and that is my wardrobe. i honestly do like shopping for new clothes, but i currently have no room for anything. (small closet ya dig???) but besides that, my clothes need to be replaced. most of them are really grungy and remind me of certain times that are hard to think of. (mostly college related…) so i guess that means a change in style is in order. also, a change in looks, and by that i mean, my overall health and fitness. i’ve been trying my best to keep in shape more than ever, and by starting a routine, it’s been coming along, slowly but surely. working out and eating right is a big step, but it will all hopefully lead to a new better me. and despite what obama has said, this is change i can believe in and change i will make for myself...

so, for other matters, let’s get dance funky with Roxy Music.

roxy music is the brain child of front man, Bryan Ferry and his creative team of talented musicians which included famed producer and musician, Brian Eno among others. the group hailed from london, england and started back in 1971. they broke up the first time in 1976, got back together in 1978 and then stopped for good in 1983. since then, ferry and most of the original members have played off-and-on since 2001.

the music these cool cats created was very much glam/proto-punk as well as an early blue print for new wave and post punk. their stage presence was over dramatic, with sharp clothing styles, art school sensibility and a dance ready attitude. they were ahead of the game, and many artists have stated them as a huge influence. you can feel their style in acts like, Duran Duran, The Cars, The Human League, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and Madness. the song, “more than this” from their last album, Avalon, is a personal favorite…

so yeah, it's music time and as you will probably notice, the album covers usually feature a pretty lady on the front, thus emphasizing their sexual undertones and heightening the overall music. this is so welcomed by me and i'm glad it's not as trashy as what we see nowadays. i consider this artwork, which not many artists try to do these days. uh, in advance, sorry for the weird spacing and rapidshare link... okay then, in first place is the bands self titled effort, followed by their second glam rock album, For Your Pleasure. next is the album, Stranded and then the lovely, Country Life which features their most controversial cover that caused an uproar in it's time. after this are the albums, Siren and Manifesto. oh, and on a minor note, siren, along with country life and for your pleasure, are featured in the Rolling Stone Top 500 Greatest Albums Ever Made collection. and for last grabs are the albums, Flesh+Blood and my favorite, number 31 ranked in the greatest albums of the 1980's rolling stone issue, Avalon. now give yourself some breathing room here, because this is some very good music that needs to be absorbed and thought about by you for some time. give it a dig why don't ya???
