Now they are through with me...

you know what sounded good for lunch today??? a rueben sandwich!!! oh, how i love those rueben sandwiches. they taste so awesome and have a lot to offer. the meat is slowly cooked and then thinly sliced. the sauerkraut is nice and sour wile the spicy mustard adds good flavor. aww, and the bread is soft and a bit crunchy, adding a great amount of texture. yep, a trip to jason’s deli was in order for today, and as i type this, i actually haven’t gone to get my food yet, but once i get home and finish this post, it will seem like this was written about the past. heh heh

in other news, there is a great concert coming up next monday, the only problem is the location, which is freekin’ dallas, texas. ugh, i hate driving there. the highways are always super busy and the cops are terribly mean and borderline racist. still, it’s well worth the time and effort because the band i want to see is Envy from japan!!! man, how often do you think they come to america to play??? NEVER!!! also added to that mix are the bands, Touché Amoré and La Dispute i think, so overall, it’s so worth the time and effort. heck, it’s even worth the energy and sleepy tuesday that will eventually take me over. yeah… and one more thing, on thursday of that same week, the rifftrax crew are going to be showing their live halloween special in theatres with the classic horror film, House On Haunted Hill. so far, it seems to be an awesome week ahead!!!

spending some time jammin’ all kinds of music, i recently came across a band i was into last year, but have sort of forgotten. that’s all changed now, though, because they have recently released a new album and the single from it has sparked my interest once again. the band i’m taking my sweet time to mention is, Deerhunter.

this band is the project of lead singer/songwriter, bradford cox and his merry band of fellow musicians, moses archuleta, josh fauver and locket pundt. the band started back in 2001, and had some different members back then. they released a split single with the band, Alphabets before their original bassist died from a skateboard head injury. time passed before the band regrouped and released their debut album, Turn It Up Faggot. during this time, the band toured with acts like, Lighting Bolt, Gang Gang Dance, The Black Lips and Liars. they then went back in the studio and tried to record their second album, but ultimately failed. and you might know this story, but here it is anyway… more time passed and blah blah blah, then they eventually released their second album, Cryptograms, which is my favorite of theirs. oh, i’m totally spacing out right now. sheesh, i forgot to mention their music style. uh, to me, i want to say it’s a mix of ambient indie rock, with a dash of dream-pop and shoegaze, then finalized by a good amount of post-punk. it’s some serious business, and really awesome stuff. the band seems to get better with each album. i don’t want to keep you waiting, so on with the tunes!!!

so, like i said, the band released a split single with another band, but that's not going to be posted here. instead we will start with their debut album, Turn It Up Faggot, then their second album, Cryptograms. then next we have the ep, Flourecent Grey, then the amazing full length album, Microcastle. accompanying microcastle is the special album, Weird Era Cont., which was a collection of songs made by each band member and meant to be givne to those who purchased microcastle. following this is the ep, Rainwater Cassette Exchange and then their newly released album, Halcyon Digest. their latest album has the moody song, "helicopter" which is what got me anxious to listen to them again. annnnnnnnnnd one more thing to mention is that bradford cox also has his own solo project, which goes by the name, Atlas Sound. it's all good, so enjoy!!!

Take my hand and pray with me
My final days in company
The devil now has come for me
And helicopters circling the scene

And I pray for us
Would you pray for us
Nobody loves you the best
We know he loves you the best

Tired of my pain
I'm tired of my pain, oh

No one cares for me
I keep no company
I have minimal needs
And now they are through with me

No one cares for me
I have minimal needs
I keep no company
And now they are through with me
Now they are through with me
Now they are through with me
Now they are through with me
